5 Reasons to Visit Seattle this Summer for the Ingeniux User Conference

Writing this in the middle of January in the Pacific Northwest - where the days are usually grey, start late, and end early - I have to say that this summer feels like lightyears away. But one great thing about Seattle weather, infamous for heavy precipitation and near-constant cloud cover, is that when the sun does finally come out in the warmer months everyone in the city finds themselves a little more lighthearted.

Locals flock to the outdoors whenever possible, parks are swarmed with sunbathers, and moods are across the board UP.

2019 is the first year we'll host the Ingeniux User Conference in July (July 24-26). This means conference attendees will be able to experience Seattle during this amazing time of year. And we're thrilled to have this opportunity to show our customers and partners what a Seattle summer is all about!

To kick things off, we're putting together our list of top activities, sights, and experiences to look forward to when you visit Seattle this July for the 2019 Ingeniux User Conference. Read on for five reasons this year's user conference is one you won't want to miss!

Reason #1: Soak Up the Vitamin D

This one may seem obvious, but it's worth noting that the Emerald City truly sparkles when the sun is out.

Seattle is surrounded by mountains, brimming with green natural spaces, dotted by lakes large and small, and situated along the Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean and part of the Salish Sea). It doesn't take a wild imagination to conjure images of how the natural beauty of the area shines in the warmer months.

The short winter days are made up for in the summer by lingering daylight hours, with the sun setting around 9 or 10 PM most nights. This means long days, well suited to exploring a new city and taking in all it has to offer.

Reason #2: Find Your Inner Park Person

In the summer months, Seattleites flock to the outdoors. For many in the city, this means spending copious amounts of time in parks and urban green spaces. You'll be hard-pressed to find a park lawn in Seattle on a sunny day that isn't packed with picnickers and sunbathers. Here are just a few of our favorite outdoor oases where you can soak up some Vitamin D or enjoy a picnic lunch:

Volunteer Park: In this popular park on Capitol Hill you'll find vast swaths of lawn, perfect for sunbathing and picnicking. Walk up to "the doughnut" sculpture for a great view of the Space Needle.

Olympic Sculpture Park: The Olympic Sculpture Park is free to the public year-round and offers amazing views of Puget Sound, along with some beautiful sculptures.

Kerry Park: This is where you'll find one of the best views in the city. Kerry Park is a small park located on the south side of Queen Anne Hill. The perfect spot for a postcard-worthy photo.

Madison Park: Grab your swimsuit and sunscreen and head to Madison Park for a dip in Lake Washington. Get there early to stake out a patch of grass before the crowds show up.

Reason #3: Hunt Down the Perfect Patio

Finding the perfect spot to enjoy a beverage, a bite, and a view on a sunny day in Seattle is a truly joyful experience. And take it from us, these spots are often found on patios and rooftops around the city. Though often crowded and boisterous, there's no better way to spend a leisurely lunch or the happiest happy hour than with new friends in one of these outdoor establishments:

Café Campagne: Located in Pike Place Market, this French café with outdoor seating is the perfect spot to enjoy an espresso and some people watching.

Ray's Boathouse: A Seattle institution, Ray's Boathouse started out as a boat rental and bait house with a café and has been around since 1945! Go for the fresh, elegant seafood and a waterfront view.

Westward: Another great option for seafood, Westward offers outdoor seating right on Lake Union. Order some oysters and relax in one of their comfy Adirondack chairs.

Mbar: This rooftop bar boasts stunning views of Lake Union and the Space Needle. Bonus: It's just a short walk away from the Ingeniux User Conference!

Reason #4: Sightsee in the City (...and Leave the Umbrella at Home)

Summer (usually) means no rain in Seattle, which makes it the perfect time to put on your walking shoes and enjoy the sights. During your stay in Seattle for the Ingeniux User Conference, make sure you schedule a little time to visit some of these attractions:

Great Wheel: This popular Seattle tourist attraction is worth the wait in line. Don't forget your camera, as the view of Puget Sound from the top of the wheel is a must see.

Pike Place Market: Sample your way through the long line of stalls in Pike Place Market, one of the oldest continually running public markets in the United States. Make sure to catch the famous fish toss!

Alki Beach: Once you're done sampling tourist attractions in downtown Seattle, hop on a water taxi and head to Alki Beach for a beautiful, waterfront respite from the bustling city center.

South Lake Union: South Lake Union has grown exponentially in recent years. The area now boasts a beautiful waterfront and some of the city's best museums, cafes, bars, and restaurants. There's a reason we choose to host the conference in this area each year!

Reason #5: The Ingeniux User Conference

That's right - the user conference is reason enough to visit Seattle this summer! With an outstanding line up of speakers, an amazing location in South Lake Union, and tons of fun networking events and parties in the works, the conference is not to be missed in 2019.
