There has been a lot of discussion about the importance of digital assets in web and customer experience this past year. Web-based text content is still the primary way for customers to learn more about a company and its products and services, but other content types have gained in popularity. Videos, images, downloadable documents and PDFs, and other assets are a key part of the digital experience, and you need to manage them with the same care and rigor as your web pages.
At Ingeniux, we look at digital assets in the same way we look at text-based web content.
With Ingeniux CMS 10, you'll find:
- A consistent approach to creating and editing
- A way to easily collaborate on the development of that content
- A seamless search experience that surfaces all relevant content regardless of its content type
In CMS 10 you can manage your digital assets and their associated metadata without having to go to another digital asset management tool. The CMS "DAM" provides a complete platform for managing digital assets including versioning and renditions, custom metadata and tagging, rights management, workflow review, and publishing.
There are many things to love about the digital asset management capabilities in Ingeniux CMS. Here are just five powerful new features you'll discover in this release.
Organize Key Asset Types
Set up views of each asset type so you can quickly find the asset you want to edit. For example, with the Images Folder, you can view all images, and you can adjust the viewing size of the images.
To find an asset (or assets), you can search or browse the asset library by metadata. If it's an image you are looking for, once you find it, you can open it and edit it within the CMS.
Each asset you manage in the CMS has a number of details and metadata. When you chose to manage the asset details, you can do things such as:
- Manage versions
- Change the URL
- Restrict publication by assigning start and end dates and time
- Edit the schema associated with the asset - edit both descriptive and taxonomy metadata
Assets like images, videos and PDFs can go through many changes and often require multiple levels of approval before the final version is published. Because you are now managing your assets within the CMS, you get the benefit of workflow.
Another great feature of Ingeniux CMS 10 is the ability to edit an image directly in the context of a webpage. If you are looking at a web page and you select an image to edit, it will open in the image asset page where you can make changes. Once saved, you will return to the web page with the image changes automatically applied.
Utilize a Multi-Channel Approach to Asset Management
As the web evolves to a multi-channel and device paradigm, assets need to evolve as well. No longer can you assume one asset size will serve all devices and contexts. Ingeniux approaches this challenge two ways.
You can use Content-Aware Image Resizing to fit images to browser and device viewports and form factors automatically. Starting with a large, high fidelity image, additional sizes are automatically generated and cached for optimal delivery.
The CMS also supports renditions. Renditions are associated images that may have different sizes or layouts. You can automatically generate renditions on upload or can editorially create renditions working in the DAM. The benefit of a rendition is that it is cross-referenced with its source and sibling versions, allowing you to work with a set of assets opposed to individual assets, simplifying management and improving the viewing experience on your sites.
Use Code as an Asset
Ingeniux CMS 10 introduces code management. The CSS and views for your projects can be stored and versioned in the CMS DAM. New in-browser code editing allows you to make edits and changes to your code quickly and then propagate those changes into staging or production.
The CMS also supports integration with GIT, TFS, and other best of breed source code control solutions.
Store Content in the Cloud
Not all assets want to live in a CMS. At Ingeniux we understand that you may want to keep your videos on YouTube or Vimeo or manage documents in another system. But you still need an easy way to reference them in the CMS, add them to pages, and manage extended metadata for better reuse and discoverability.
With CMS 10 you can set your asset as External and link to it. This provides the ability to manage the asset as a native content item while keeping it in another cloud or application.
One Place to Manage All Your Content
A lot of work goes into creating a great web experience. Text, images, videos and other assets all work together to provide an engaging experience.
With Ingeniux CMS 10 and above you get a full-featured DAM built into the CMS, allowing you to easily manage all your creative and technical assets in one place.
